Bruce Buffer thinks Nate Diaz should be “bowing” to Dana White, not complaining

Nate Diaz is not shy about his gripes with the UFC. Over the course of his unforgettable career, the Stockton-based star has repeatedly butted heads with the promotion and its key decision-makers, oftentimes resulting in prolonged absences from the cage.

In the opinion of UFC announcer Bruce Buffer, Nate Diaz’s gripes with the UFC are unwarranted. In fact, Buffer thinks Diaz should be grovelling at the feet of the UFC brass.

“Nate, I heard you made 7 or more million dollars in your last fight,” Buffer told TMZ recently (transcript via MMA Fighting). “I don’t want to hear you complaining about being under promoted by the UFC. You should be thanking the UFC and bowing to Dana White every time you see him. [Endeavor co-CEOs] Ari Emanuel, Patrick Whitesell.”

“You got 7 or more million dollars gross before taxes, maybe much more,” he added. “Which I love knowing that you have, Nate. Please, I don’t want to hear any more complaints.”

Buffer also discussed a potential rubber match between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor. He’s not sure when — or even if — the UFC will book this blockbuster trilogy fight, and thinks it will depend on what happens in McGregor’s UFC 229 bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“I think we all want to see it, but I don’t think we can make determinations about anything until we see what happens between Khabib and Conor,” Buffer said. “This is a big fight. I don’t think in front of my guns — I think behind my guns. We’ll see what happens and then the marketing brains of the UFC will put together what the best thing is for the fans.”
