Nate Diaz responds to Conor McGregor calling him a “cholo”, dissing Jiu-Jitsu seminars
After it was announced that Nate Diaz would be stepping in for Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196, the UFC held a ‘UFC 196: McGregor vs. Diaz’ press conference the very next day. McGregor and Diaz put on a verbal show for the fans as they talked trash for nearly 30 minutes straight!
Over the course of the press conference, McGregor called Diaz a “cholo” and mocked him for teaching Jiu-Jitsu seminars to kids.
Diaz spoke on UFC Tonight on Fox Sports 1 about McGregor’s comments ahead of their bout, saying:
“He was doing his thing at the press conference, and he was going to try and bust me out and call me a cholo. But, that’s the background where I come from.”
“It’s hardcore where I live. If he would have came from where I come from, he wouldn’t have made it, man. Nobody makes it out of where we come from and you don’t know what I’ve been through.”
In regards to McGregor mocking him for teaching Jiu-Jitsu seminars, Diaz had this to say:
“And then as far as teaching jiu-jitsu, yeah I do seminars. I try to push martial arts out there, inspire people.”
“That’s the only thing that kind of irritated me. There was no logic. It was kind of uncalled for. It seemed real rehearsed, like he was plotting on trying to make a fool out of me or something.”
