Over the last few weeks, there has been significant buzz about a rumored UFC 227 lightweight scrap between former UFC welterweight and middleweight champ Georges St-Pierre, and long-time lightweight contender Nate Diaz.

These rumors reached a crescendo when UFC President Dana White claimed the promotion was actually working on the fight.

β€œIt is true, and they would fight at 155-pounds,” White said of the bout on a recent episode of the UFC Unfiltered podcast.

According to Nate Diaz himself, however, it just isn’t happening. He has no interest in fighting St-Pierre.

β€œNo, I’m not fighting that fight,” Diaz told MMAJunkie over the weekend.

β€œLike I said [on Facebook], he cheated when he fought my brother [in 2013], so I just had to bring up old shit because they’re trying to brush it off like it’s nothing,” he added. β€œI got other shit to do, and it was just weird because we never even really talked about [that fight].”

While Nate Diaz is not interested in fighting Georges St-Pierre, however, he is keen on fighting again, and apparently even asked for a specific opponent recently β€” though he wouldn’t divulge who it was.

β€œThere was a fight I asked them for, and now that that fell through, we’re back to square one,” he said.

β€œI’ve been trying to get in there and get going,” he said. β€œI’ve been wanting to get in there and get going this year. I just got thisΒ lawsuit out of the wayΒ that I’ve been going through for the last two years, so I wasn’t even able to fight. So that’s all done and over, and I’m ready to get back to fighting if I’m going to be fighting anymore.”

β€œI’m training until there’s something good to do here.”

Nate Diaz has not fought since August of 2016, when he gave up a razor-close majority decision to Conor McGregor. Who do you want to see him fight if he returns to the cage?
