And make it a big deal, because I’m not trying to just sign a contract just cause it’s a good idea for you guys.” Those are the words from Nate Diaz speaking with the Outside The Box podcast on getting called out by fighters and from the UFC who have been trying to get him into the Octagon for a classic Diaz scrap. Nate stated that at this point in his career, he doesn’t need to fight anyone but is willing to fight any opponent if it makes sense.

Nate Diaz turned down the fight. We heard it over and over from Dana White. Nate Diaz turned down the fight. We’ve offered him a fight with everyone on the roster and he turned it down. The latest conversation centered around a welterweight title shot against Tyron Woodley to boast UFC 219’s selling power, but it faded out with the culprit supposedly being a lack of compensation. In a recent interview covering everything from his contract, rap, weed and Conor McGregor, Diaz himself broke down exactly why he’s made himself unavailable to the UFC. “I have some ideas for this year [for a fight] so when it’s time to pull the trigger and finally tell them what’s going down, I’ll but it out, but I want to see how the fights this weekend go and see how some stuff goes. That’s the thing, there’s a lot of fighters that are bad mouthing me too. Fighters are like, ‘He ain’t no fighter, he ain’t no fighter.’ I already fought more than everybody in the UFC. Everyone in the UFC except Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, BJ Penn, Michael Bisping – who has actually done a lot. I have more fights than anyone on the roster. In the whole roster. That’s from activity from 21 to 30-years old and I’ve been slow the last few years just chilling, fighting once a year. They’ll say, ‘he’s not a fighter, he don’t even fight, he don’t even fight,’ because I haven’t been that active in these last few years. I’m like, hold up. I’m not fighting because I am a fighter. You’re fighting because someone’s telling you to fight.”

Tyron Woodley couldn’t get Nate Diaz to come out and speak when they were potentially in talks for a superfight. The only thing Dana White could draw out of Diaz is a social media Stockton slap. At the end of the day, it took hometown battle rapper Okwerdz for Diaz to walk out of the shadows and pick up a mic. …And it didn’t disappoint. In his first all-encompassing interview since May on a special episode of The MMA Hour, Nate Diaz spits more fire than can be contained within the boundaries of this article. He goes off on Conor McGregor, the UFC’s suspect marketing tactics, and being on lockdown preventing his move to boxing. “Conor [McGregor]’s their guy. They just give him what they want to do with him and they build who they want to build and I’m not one of them, but it’s all good now, I’ll build myself. […] Yeah, a lot [of boxing promotions wanted to buy out my contract]. Years ago. They promote him as the money guy and he became bigger than everybody because that’s what they promoted him as. I was the guy bringing all the views and all the numbers. They didn’t announce it as that, so that’s why when they were going to buy out my contract [the UFC] were like, ‘Are you kidding? This is our guy. We just don’t want to tell anybody this is our guy or why because then his value goes up and he gets what he wants and we don’t want to give him what he wants, we want to give little Irish dude what he wants.'”

Despite his economic success, Diaz not only chooses to stay in or around Stockton, but contributes to the 209 community. The people there feel his impact and it results in a fan loyalty that can’t be manufactured. This latest story told by a local fire department is just one of many examples of Nate and Nick Diaz’s fingerprint to the area. “Tough: Strong enough to withstand adverse conditions. Proud: Deeply satisfied due to one’s own qualities or reputation. These are two words that inevitably might come up if you had to describe the City of Stockton, those from the community, or those that protect it. ‘Tough’ & ‘Proud’ are words that are representative of Stockton, and of Stockton Firefighters. The UFC 219 superfight plot thickens. We all know the story by now. Nate Diaz started training for a fight, rumors swirled out of control, talks revealed that the UFC were in negotiations with Diaz to fight UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. Suddenly, things went quiet until Woodley started calling out the younger Diaz brother in the media every where he could. It finally died and Woodley claimed Diaz priced himself out of the fight on purpose. Eventually Dana White attempted to put the final nail in the coffin and said that the fight wasn’t ever even offered. Woodley has already disputed that statement, but in this latest video, Nate Diaz seems to say the same thing. …Well, in his own words. Shutup bitch. Your both thirsty ….

We all knew it would be hard to get Nate Diaz back in the Octagon after back-to-back gigantic fights with Conor McGregor, but we had no idea it would be this difficult. Initially, we all thought he’d just be waiting until McGregor came back from his multi-million boxing bout, but that lag time just kept growing larger and larger until nothing. The MMA community’s ears peaked up when there was word of a bonkers fight between Tyron Woodley and Diaz to beef up UFC 219, but that has since been squashed. In a recent interview with Dana White, he not only says that the fight was never offered to begin with, but that Diaz has turned down every single fight he’s been offered for a year and a half. “Nate Diaz has turned down a fight with everyone on the roster. The potential fight between Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz came and went nearly as fast as the UFC welterweight champ punches. The deal was halfway done until the talk stalled, which prompted Woodley to put Diaz on blast every chance he got. With the Cris Cyborg and Holly Holm fight announced, that looked to be the final nail in the coffin. We’ve since learned that the UFC is still not happy with how UFC 219 is turning out, so it looks like negotiations are still on-going. Tyron Woodley has come up with an idea of how to get Diaz into the Octagon with a compromise that rests in-between his large $15 million demands to fight. Over the last few weeks, there has been significant buzz surrounding a possible UFC 219 welterweight title fight between champ Tyron Woodley and long-time lightweight contender Nate Diaz. As the time between us and UFC 219 continues to dissipate, however, this fight continues to look more and more unlikely. According to Richard Perez, who serves as Nate Diaz’s boxing coach, if this fight doesn’t get made it will be because the UFC doesn’t want to pay Diaz his asking price.

After an explosion of speculation and swirling rumors, it was confirmed that a fight between Nate Diaz and Tyron Woodley was in the negotiation stage. Just when things started heating up, suddenly it seemed like the fight wasn’t going to happen. This drop-off prompted the UFC welterweight champ Woodley to air all the dirty laundry. He claims that he’s already signed on the dotted line and publicly addressed the younger Diaz brother about not going through with his end of the deal yet. Suddenly, there’s a fight in the works between him and UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley to fill the empty slot perched atop UFC 219. Not just a wild rumor that spread out of control, but the UFC really trying to make this insane, out-of-left-field scrap happen. The talks seem to stall as fast as they heated up with little to no explanation. This is where Tyron Woodley comes in to clear everything up. According to the champ, he’s already signed on the dotted line and is waiting for Nate Diaz to do the same. “I don’t even need the cards. I’m fired up about people that tell you, ‘Don’t be scared homie,’ and then they’re scared, homie. Not a possible fight. A 50-percent completed fight. You got one half of the party that’s been offered, that’s accepted, that’s out here with their bag at Wilcard Boxing getting punched by world champions. With UFC 219 being one of the more problematic cards of the year, the UFC had to do something major. The wild news of Tyron Woodley possibly fighting Nate Diaz at UFC 219 comes right on the heels of the younger Diaz brother entering into training camp. Who knows if the fight actually gets done, but it seems like it is working towards that way and as we all know, anything can happen in this fight game. As soon as strength and conditioning coach Jose Garcia released a blurb on Instagram about Nate Diaz entering into his fight camp, the MMA world got set ablaze with wild speculation. However, sometimes reality can be stranger than fiction. Out of all the swirling rumors, it seems that none other than Tyron Woodley has emerged as a possible opponent for the returning Diaz brother. So far, despite confirming reports by our own Chris Taylor and Ariel Helwani, neither fighter has come right out and said something.
