Rafael dos Anjos: “I don’t see Conor winning this fight”
Earlier this year, Conor McGregor was slated to fight Rafael dos Anjos in a highly anticipated fight in the main event of UFC 196 for the lightweight title. Unfortunately for RDA, he broke his foot in training, and was forced out of the bout.
Ultimately, the UFC selected Nate Diaz as a replacement opponent for McGregor, and as MMA fans know by now, Diaz submitted McGregor, handing him his first UFC loss.
With the pair set to clash once again in the main event of UFC 202, Rafael dos Anjos offered his thoughts on the rematch to TMZ:
“It’s hard to advise him, because Nate Diaz was on vacation when he got a call to fight him.”
“And on less than 10 days’ notice he still beat him — now he’s got a full fight camp. It’s hard to give him any advice.”
“[Conor can win] if he can catch him with the right shot, but Nate can take a lot of shots, especially at 170 pounds. Nate Diaz is a 55er, he’s a lightweight. But now he’s fighting at 170 — I don’t know why. But I don’t see Conor winning this fight, for sure.”
While McGregor attributed the first loss to an inefficient use of his energy, do you think he now has the recipe to defeat Diaz at UFC 202?
