Did the UFC hint on Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz trilogy in UFC 205 promo?
Are people tired of hearing about Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz? Many fans may be, while many others want to see who wins the best out of three as McGregor and Diaz both split their fights with a win each. Even UFC President Dana White says he has had enough of their rivaled matchup, for now.
However, if Conor McGregor is able to capture the UFC lightweight title at UFC 205 from Eddie Alvarez and become the first fighter in UFC history to hold two division’s belts simultaneously, what bigger lightweight title fight could there possibly be than the trilogy bout between the brash Irishman and Stockton scrapper?
With McGregor finding revenge and scoring a majority decision over Diaz at their epic battle at UFC 202, Diaz still holds a finishing win over McGregor. In their first fight at UFC 196, Diaz stunned the featherweight champion with some crisp striking in the second round and eventually finished him off with a rear-naked choke submission. It would be bewildering to imagine that it would not be the biggest fight in UFC history with a title on the line. The two are a recipe for success as seen from the speculated pay-per-view numbers.
It surely looks like the creatives behind this UFC 205 promo are thinking the same thing. In the amazing theatrical UFC 205 trailer, there’s a shot (at 1:35 of the video) where McGregor and Alvarez meet on a screen outside of Madison Square Garden. Coincidentally or not, the clock’s time reads 2:09. If you aren’t familiar with Nate Diaz, he always proudly represents his Stockton area code of 209.

There is no denying that if McGregor beats Alvarez at UFC 205 that Diaz would be the biggest fight the UFC could make. What are your thoughts on a potential UFC lightweight title fight between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz?
Nice subliminal marketing in the UFC 205 promo. Guess who Conor will defend the belt against (if he wins)? pic.twitter.com/QFPQd0TAZT

One thing we do know is how number one UFC ranked lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov feels in regards to the next title challenger.
