VIDEO | Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor team up together against reporter on conference call

Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor were on a conference call ahead of UFC 202 to talk with members of the media on Friday.

At one point during the call, a reporter worded his question that implied that Conor was quick to tap and asked Diaz (at 25:44 of the video), “When you got Conor down and he tapped, were you surprised at how quick that went?”

Diaz was respectful of McGregor’s fighting spirit and told it from his perspective saying, “It was a fight it was just kind of happening how it was happening. I was surprised that he was in there, a lot of fighters quit. I put ’em in that guillotine and they’re done. I stay on top and they get finished. I could tell he was trying to stay in there, he switched to his back which a lot of fighters don’t do. So that’s one thing, he didn’t give up, but there was nowhere to go so it tight, it was how it happened and it was what happened.”

The reporter tried to follow up with another question for Diaz but McGregor cut him off and said, “I’d like to see you in there my friend, eh? Talking about a quick tap.”

The reporter stumbled over his words after McGregor explained what he felt happened during the last moments of his fight with Diaz. “Because I was wondering if you had been able to get out of that, perhaps if it would have been a lighter guy,” said the reporter. “But, because the size, it just happened to happen the way it happened?”

There was a brief pause before Diaz came in and told the reporter that he was, “back peddling now.”

McGregor found Diaz’s comment to be funny and laughed before a bit more awkward silence.

Is there a bit of a camaraderie somehow growing between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor in the middle of their rivalry?
