VIDEO | Nate Diaz is pissed with the UFC, says proposed fight with Dustin Poirier may not happen
Earlier this week it was announced that former lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz would be making his highly anticipated return to the octagon against Dustin Poirier at November’s UFC 230 event in New York.
The Stockton Slugger has not stepped foot in the octagon since UFC 202 in August of 2016, where he suffered a controversial majority decision loss to Conor McGregor.
Despite his rather long layoff, Diaz will now return to action against arguably the lightweight divisions hottest fighter in Dustin Poirier.
“The Diamond” has gone 8-1 with one no-contest over his past ten bouts, which includes stoppage victories over Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje and most recently Eddie Alvarez.
Diaz and Poirier faced off for the first time at Friday’s UFC 25th Anniversary Press Conference in Los Angeles.
Shortly following the presser, Nate Diaz would take to Twitter where he issued the following statement.
I’m not fighting on that show fuk the @ufc

Diaz continued to voice his displeasure with his employer and their “lack of promotion” earlier today while adding that his proposed UFC 230 fight with Dustin Poirier may not come to fruition.
Check it out:
“They were bad-mouthing me saying I was turning down fights all this time. I never turned down a fight in my life. And then they are all backing the other guy when he has a lawsuit. But then I have a lawsuit and then it is just like ‘Nate is turning down fights’? Kiss my ass. F*ck the UFC. F*ck all of this sh*t! If I feel like it I will fight, but they ain’t going to tell me what is what.”
“The fans are pumped for you and Dustin. How do you see this ending?” asked the reporter.
“F*ck I don’t know man we are going to have to see. I don’t even know if I am going to be fighting. They better start acting right and start over promoting instead of under promoting. They brought me to this press conference late. They brought me to the press conference late! They brought me.”
