Yesterday at the UFC 196 press conference, as many expected, things got quite heated between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor. The pair exchanged verbal blows throughout the course of the press conference, with Nate even going as far as to accuse McGregor of being on steroids at one point.

UFC veteran Nick Diaz has had a long history with fighting. Ever since he was a kid growing up in a rough part of California in his hometown of Stockton, the bad boy from the 209 says that fighting always found him. Diaz recently did an interview with High Times about growing up fighting and how contrary to what many people might think of him, says that he is not a violent person.

It’s no secret that UFC veteran Nick Diaz has used marijuana throughout the course of his fight career. Diaz has failed 2 drug tests throughout his fight career for marijuana, and has been an advocate for marijuana usage. Diaz was handed a 5 year suspension from the NSAC after he failed a drug test following his UFC 183 main event scrap with Anderson Silva. Diaz and the NSAC went into settlement talks after the 5 year suspension caused an uproar, and the suspension was ultimately reduced to 18 months retroactively. Given this, Diaz will once again be eligible to fight on August 1st.

There was much reason for UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis to celebrate after UFC Fight Night 82. Lewis won by TKO in devastating fashion over Damian Grabowski in the first round of their fight. Lewis took to the club after his win over Grabowski and found a friend in Nick Diaz to celebrate with. Lewis snapped a photo of the two MMA veterans and posted it to Twitter with the caption reading, “I promise we didn’t fight anyone last night.”

On this day in MMA history, Strikeforce held their ‘Nick Diaz vs. Evangelista Santos’ card which featured two title fights. In the main event Nick Diaz Defended his Strikeforce championship against Evangelista Santos, while in the co-main event Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza defended his Strikeforce middleweight championship against Robbie Lawler.

The elder Diaz is willing to hang back and help his younger brother #6 Nate Diaz out after his successful outing against Michael “The Menace” Johnson putting the younger Diaz right in the title hunt.
