The Octagon remains in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 70 event, a twelve-bout fight card headlined by Nikita Krylov vs. Ryan Spann. Krylov (29-9 MMA) will enter tonight’s main event with hopes of extending his current win streak to three in a row. ‘The Miner’ is coming off back-to-back victories over former division title challengers Volkan Oezdemir and Alexander Gustaffson, the latter of which was a TKO finish (see that here).

UFC light-heavyweight contender Ryan Spann doesn’t really know much about Nikita Krylov. However, he doesn’t really care. ‘Superman’ has been out of the octagon since his clash with Dominick Reyes at UFC 281. In the light-heavyweight showcase last November, Spann picked up the biggest win of his career thus far. Less than two minutes into the first round, he scored a devastating knockout victory over ‘The Devastator’.

A key light heavyweight contest between Volkan Oezdemir and Nikita Krylov takes place on today’s UFC 280 prelims. Oezdemir (18-7 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since defeating Paul Craig by decision back in July. ‘No Time’ is looking to avenge his teammate Alexander Gustafsson’s previous loss to Krylov when he takes to the Octagon this afternoon.

Volkan Oezdemir knew he was going to face Nikita Krylov next time out right after UFC London. Oezdemir and Krylov both picked up wins at UFC London in July and shortly after the event, the two light heavyweight finishers were matched up. It’s also a scrap that Oezdemir thought was inevitable after they were booked to fight one another in 2020.

Oezdemir and Krylov were slated to co-headline the upcoming UFC event Fight Island. However, due to a knee injury, ‘No Time‘ was forced to withdraw from the contest.

UFC light heavyweight contender Nikita Krylov believes that coronavirus is transmitted through your TV and he believes people are overthinking the virus. Krylov recently fought Johnny Walker at UFC Brasilia on the last card before the UFC was forced into a coronavirus-induced hiatus. Krylov says he had no problems fighting on the card and says he is not worried about the coronavirus. In fact, he believes that people are getting infected just because they are thinking about it too much.

There will be no warmup for Nikita Krylov’s return to the UFC. Krylov, who parted ways with the promotion in 2016, is set to return to the Octagon at UFC Moscow on September 15, where he will battle the UFC’s fourth-ranked light heavyweight Jan Blachowicz. This bout was recently made official by the UFC on Twitter.
