One of Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson’s dreams as a martial artist is set to become a reality when ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced at the press conference of ONE: HEART OF THE LION at the Marina Bay Sands last Wednesday, 7 November the eight-man Flyweight World Grand Prix, which will be composed of eight of the best flyweights of the stacked ONE flyweight division.

Though Sityodtong has yet to reveal the detailed set up of the tournaments, one thing is for sure, the winner will determine the undisputed champion one way or another.

Johnson, who is considered by many as one of the greatest pound-for-pound mixed martial artists of his generation has always dreamed of competing in Asia after dominating the flyweight scene in North America for the past seven years.

And with his addition to the largest mixed martial organization in the eastern part of the globe, challenging the best athletes in Asia is now in his doorsteps.

“I spent seven years in North America fighting the best in the world. I’ve never travelled to Asia to fight the best. I think now is the perfect time to do it,” Johnson said at the press conference of ONE: HEART OF THE LION in Singapore.

“Now that they just announced a World Grand Prix for the flyweight division, it has always been a dream of mine to actually compete in Asia in a World Grand Prix.”

The multiple time flyweight champion is also certain that he will be in his best form once the World Grand Prix started in his quest of adding the ONE Flyweight World Title belt in his trophy collection.

“The biggest thing that you can expect from me for coming over here to compete in Asia is that I’ll do my best. I am taking no shortcuts,” Johnson ended.
