It was a hard fight to watch for fans of legendary Japanese MMA pioneer Kazushi Sakuraba.

Sakuraba was handled on the RIZIN promotions 12/29 card in the main event by Shinya Aoki. Sakuraba didn’t get off much offense the entire fight against the much younger Aoki, who took it to the ground early and poured on an onslaught of ground and pound for nearly six minutes before the fight was stopped.

Sakuraba’s last fight was in 2011 in the DREAM promotion at DREAM 17 against Yan Cabral where he fell to submission. Unfortunately, Sakuraba has lost every one of his last five fights.

Aoki is on a nine fight win streak and is the current ONE FC lightweight champion.
