A career welterweight who reigned supreme before stepping away, St-Pierre jumped up to middleweight and took the title away from Michael Bisping by literally choking him out. It was the cherry on top of an absolutely insane UFC 217 card. However, the combat sports universe never stops. Robert Whittaker has waited long enough and wants his shot to unify the middleweight title. But that’s not all, challengers are waiting in both of St-Pierre’s divisions. Just shy of four years from the last time competing in the Octagon, St-Pierre stepped up in weight and took the middleweight belt from Michael Bisping by choking him unconscious in the third round of their title fight.

The UFC bantamweight title fight between Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw was an exciting back and forth battle at UFC 217. Round one ended with Garbrandt knocking down Dillashaw and had him wobbly while getting back on his feet. Dillashaw turned things right around in round two and knocked Garbrandt down twice, ending the fight following up with ground and pound after the second knockdown.

Riding high off a dominant win over Demian Maia, Colby Covington has spent the last few weeks campaigning for a title fight with welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. On the most recent episode of BJ Penn Radio, the surging welterweight contender also gave a prediction for the outcome of a possible fight with Woodley. Based on his previous training sessions with Woodley at American Top Team, Covington is expecting a lopsided, stoppage win over the champ – probably inside the first three rounds.

Back in July, former UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones returned from a lengthy suspension to knock out Daniel Cormier and reclaim the title he once guarded so ferociously. Regrettably, just days later, it was announced that he had failed a pre-fight drug test. From there, his knockout win was promptly overturned, and the light heavyweight title was returned to Cormier. Since then, there has been ample discussion about the possibility that Jones consumed a banned substance inadvertently – perhaps by consuming a tainted supplement. On the latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, UFC commentator Joe Rogan took this theory and stretched it to the absolute limit, essentially inferring that Jones used cocaine that was cut with Chinese creatine that was in turn laced with a USADA-prohibited substance…

Last weekend, in the main event of UFC 217, the world watched on as former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre returned from a four-year hiatus to defeat Michael Bisping and win the UFC middleweight belt. Of all the people watching on as St-Pierre made this triumphant return, none had quite the same interest as UFC interim middleweight champion Robert Whittaker – the man widely expected to be St-Pierre’s next opponent. While the ever-classy Whittaker was impressed with St-Pierre’s win, he did see some holes in the Canadian’s game – mainly his speed.

Now that Georges St-Pierre owns the UFC middleweight title, many fans are wondering what’s next for him. While UFC President Dana White has assured it’ll be a title-unifying showdown with interim middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, that’s certainly not the Canadian’s only option. One of the more compelling choices on St-Pierre’s menu is UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor, who he could meet at welterweight. In the eyes of former fighter Kenny Florian, however, this probably wouldn’t be a very competitive contest.

In fact, she even seemed to tap out from her challenger’s unexpected assault. Last weekend, in the main event of the absolutely stacked UFC 217, former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre made a return to the Octagon after some four years away. While his heyday occurred at welterweight, however, this comeback fight occurred at middleweight, where he battled divisional kingpin Michael Bisping for gold. St-Pierre was in vintage form, as he blasted Bisping on the feet and landed expertly timed takedowns en route to a third-round technical submission.

Even after all of the trash talk between Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw, the former friends and teammates were able to shake hands after their UFC 217 title fight. It was a close fight where Garbrandt could have possibly gotten the finish in the first round if there was a bit more time on the clock, dropping Dillashaw in the last seconds of the opening round. However, Dillashaw recovered well and dropped Garbradnt twice in the second round and got the finish.

Having lost his last two fights – back to back decisions losses to Cub Swanson and Andre Fili – Artem Lobov now feels that he deserves to be cut from the UFC. “Now that I have lost to Fili — and this is no disrespect to him — but now with two losses in a row, and the last loss was not exactly to the best guy out there, I feel like other people in my situation would be cut,” Lobov told Peter Carroll of MMAFighting.com. “If someone didn’t deserve to be in the UFC, in the past I was always the first guy to tell them, so now I feel like I don’t really deserve a UFC contract.
