Ronda Rousey (12-2 MMA) made her highly anticipated return to the octagon in the main event of last night’s UFC 207 fight card in Las Vegas where she challenged current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes for the title she used to posses. Unfortunately for fans of “Rowdy”, the fight didn’t go her way whatsoever, as she was overwhelmed by a barrage of early punches from “The Lioness” which led to a shocking 48-second TKO loss.

Friday evening in Las Vegas, longtime UFC commentator Mike Goldberg called his final event for the UFC. Leading up to the fight, there were numerous reports that the event would be Goldberg’s last. UFC 207 Reebok Athlete Outfitting Pay: Ronda Rousey takes home $30k

The fighters who competed at last night’s UFC 207 event in Las Vegas combined for a total of $270,000 in Outfitting Pay from the UFC’s deal with Reebok. Leading the way in the Reebok payouts was two fighters who entered UFC 207 as champions in Amanda Nunes and Dominick Cruz, who each pocketed $40,000 from the UFC’s sponsorship deal with Reebok.

In the co-main event of UFC 207, Dominick Cruz stepped into the Octagon against undefeated bantamweight prospect Cody Garbrandt for a highly anticipated grudge match. While Cruz was by far the more experienced fighter going into the scrap, Garbrandt proved that despite being just 10-0 prior to the fight, he was there to make a statement. Just moments into the fight, ‘No Love’ appeared composed and calculated as he began to taunt Cruz. As the fight progressed, Garbrandt had the champ swinging at air as he showcased some extremely impressive movement of his own. Over the course of the next 5 rounds, Garbrandt landed some big shots on Cruz as he dropped the champ numerous times in rounds three and four.

In the main event of UFC 207, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey stepped into the Octagon for the first time since her UFC 193 KO loss to Holly Holm last year. The loss marked the first of Rousey’s career, and resulted in ‘Rowdy’ taking an extended period of time off from the Octagon to take care of nagging injuries, and refocus before once again entering the Octagon. In the loss to Holly Holm last year, Rousey’s coach Edmond Tarverdyan, received a considerable amount of criticism for instilling a false sense of confidence in Rousey in regards to her striking. Following her loss to Holm, several members of the MMA community offered to help train Rousey in striking so as to help round-out her game. With that being said, leading up to her UFC 207 scrap with Amanda Nunes, many members of the MMA community also expressed concern for Rousey due to the fact that she once again returned to Glendale Fighting Club to train with Tarverdyan.

In the main event of UFC 207 Friday evening, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes made her first successful title defense as she knocked out former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey in just 48 seconds. Nunes landed a big punch just moments into the fight, noticeably leaving Rousey stunned. Nunes followed up the blow by landing several more significant punches, ultimately forcing referee Herb Dean to stop the fight given that Ronda Rousey was out on her feet. While Rousey’s return was the focus of the promo videos from the UFC leading up to the fight, Amanda Nunes dominated the fight from bell to bell, tagging Rousey with a big punch just moments into the fight before then continuing to land a barrage of strikes, ultimately forcing referee Herb Dean to stop the fight just 48 seconds after the opening bell.

Round one begins and Rousey presses forward. Nunes connects with combo and then a right hand that stuns Rousey. Ronda attempts to clinch but Amanda shakes her off and connects again. More big shots from Nunes. Rousey is in all sorts of trouble. She connects again and the referee steps in to mercifully stop the fight. This one is all over. Wow!

A bantamweight title fight between current champ Dominick Cruz (22-2 MMA) and surging contender Cody Garbrandt (11-0 MMA) served as the co-main event of tonight’s UFC 207 event in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Garbrandt charges forward with a punch that misses. Cruz connects with a right. Cody replies with a leg kick and then another. Cruz comes forward and lands a left. The fighters trade leg kicks. Cody misses with a combination. He catches Dominick with a left and then another. Cruz fires back with a hard leg kick. Cruz is bouncing around now. Cody chases after him but misses with an attempted right hand. Cruz connects with a low kick. He catches a leg kick from Cody but cannot score a takedown. Garbrandt with a nice leg kick. Cruz goes upstairs with a head kick but it is blocked. Dominick shoots for a takedown and they scramble back to their feet. Cody with a nice right. Dominick replies with a left and then a right hand. Both men land nice leg kicks. Cody ducks a punch and scores a takedown. Cruz scrambles and gets back up to his feet. Dominick with a leg kick and then misses with a spinning back fist to close out round one.
