The UFC ultimately replaced dos Anjos with Nate Diaz on short notice, and moved the bout from 155 pounds to 170 pounds given that Diaz was stepping in on short notice.

While there was certainly no shortage of top ranked contenders offering to fight McGregor on short notice, the UFC ultimately opted to go with Nate Diaz as a fill-in opponent for McGregor.
