Justin Gaethje badly wants a fight against UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. ‘The Highlight’ is fresh off his return to the octagon at UFC 313 over the weekend. Appearing in the co-main event, Justin Gaethje faced Rafael Fiziev. The bout was his first since his devastating knockout loss to Max Holloway last April. While the former ‘BMF’ titleholder was coming off a brutal stoppage defeat, it didn’t look that way on Saturday.

Jamahal Hill is confident ahead of his UFC Kansas City headliner against Khalil Rountree. ‘Sweet Dreams’ hasn’t been seen in the octagon since his clash against Jiri Prochazka in January. Ending a near yearlong layoff following a loss to Alex Pereira at UFC 300, Jamahal Hill hoped to get back on the right track. Sadly for the former champion, Prochazka knocked him down several times en route to a third-round stoppage win.

UFC light-heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev is down for a rematch against Alex Pereira. The Russian is fresh off his return to the octagon in the main event of UFC 313 on Saturday night. There, Magomed Ankalaev finally challenged Alex Pereira for light-heavyweight gold. Riding a 13-fight unbeaten streak, the title shot was his second. Back in December 2022, Ankalaev famously fought to a draw against Jan Blachowicz in a bid for the vacant light-heavyweight title.

Fresh off a loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 313, Rafael Fiziev is interested in a move down in weight. The 32-year-old striker was last seen in the cage against ‘The Highlight’ on Saturday. Stepping up on short notice, Rafael Fiziev again met Justin Gaethje. At UFC 286 in early 2023, the former interim lightweight champion handed ‘Ataman’ a close unanimous decision loss. Despite entering the bout on just two weeks’ notice, Fiziev was confident.

It’s been a long time coming for Freire, who will finally step inside the Octagon for the first time at UFC 314 on April 12. The former multiple-time Bellator champion will be facing Yair Rodriguez inside Kaseya Center in Miami.

One former UFC fan favorite doesn’t believe Alex Pereira was exposed at UFC 313. Pereira lost the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship after five rounds of action against Magomed Ankalaev. “Poatan” didn’t get to move forward nearly as much as he’s used to. Ankalaev forced Pereira to back up, making him the aggressor in the fight. This paid off, as the judges scored the fight for Ankalaev via unanimous decision.

Joe Rogan is impressed by how well Magomed Ankalaev performed against Alex Pereira. Fans were surprised by Ankalaev’s ability to keep Pereira moving backwards. “Poatan” is used to marching forward and utilizing his striking to break his opponents down. While Pereira got in his share of kicks, he never look comfortable on the feet. This was evident at the end of the second round when a clean punch from Ankalaev sent Pereira stumbling back into the cage.

The UFC was at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, for a solid UFC 313 card that saw the Alex Pereira defending his title in the main event. In the main event, Alex Pereira was defending his light heavyweight title against Magomed Ankalaev. The co-main event saw a pivotal lightweight bout go down as Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev in a rematch.

Last weekend, Jalin Turner suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Ignacio Bahamondes. It was so notable, in fact, that it led to Turner announcing that he plans on retiring from mixed martial arts. He’s been through some big highs and some notable lows in the UFC, and it appears as if he’s ready for the next chapter in his life and career.

Last Saturday night, Magomed Ankalaev sent a message to the rest of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s light heavyweight division. That message was simple: he’s the captain now. He defeated Alex Pereira and in doing so, he became the new king at 205 pounds.
