The disturbing news involving Rachael Ostovich being pulled off the UFC’s first show on ESPN has prompted two UFC fighters to call our her previously scheduled opponent Paige VanZant. Strawweight Maycee Barber and flyweight Gillian Robertson both offered their services against the Paige VanZant in separate tweets.

Shortly thereafter, another report suggested that a flyweight bout between Paige VanZant and Rachael Ostovich was in the works for this inaugural UFC on ESPN card. From the sounds of it, we can pump the breaks on both of these potential bookings.

Last night, in the co-main event of UFC St. Louis, former strawweight star Paige VanZant made her debut in the UFC flyweight division opposite Jessica-Rose Clark. Though VanZant hung in there for the duration, she was outworked by her larger foe for the majority of the fight, surrendering a unanimous decision as a result. As it turns out, however, VanZant’s lasting three rounds against Clark was pretty remarkable. Between the second and third rounds, the popular fighter told her corner that she suspected she broke her arm in the first, and a post-fight x-ray proved this to be true.

According to a report from MMAFighting.com, strawweight star Paige VanZant will finally return to the cage on January 14, when the UFC touches down in St. Louis, MO. Her return will occur in the new UFC women’s flyweight division, where she is expected to battle recent UFC roster addition Jessica-Rose Clark. Though Paige VanZant was briefly linked to a flyweight bout with former bantamweight Jessica Eye, she has not fought since December, when she was submitted by former Invicta champ Michelle Waterson. This loss was preceded by a 2016 KO of the year contender over Bec Rawlings.
