Paige VanZant’s return in the works for UFC Fight Night in St. Louis
According to a report from MMAFighting.com, strawweight star Paige VanZant will finally return to the cage on January 14, when the UFC touches down in St. Louis, MO. Her return will occur in the new UFC women’s flyweight division, where she is expected to battle recent UFC roster addition Jessica-Rose Clark.
Though Paige VanZant was briefly linked to a flyweight bout with former bantamweight Jessica Eye, she has not fought since December, when she was submitted by former Invicta champ Michelle Waterson. This loss was preceded by a 2016 KO of the year contender over Bec Rawlings.
Clark, meanwhile, recently made a short notice debut, replacing injured Scotswoman Joanne Calderwood against Bec Rawlings. Despite the brevity of her time to prepare, Clark won this fight by decision.
At present, this UFC Fight Night card in St. Louis is also expected to include a middleweight bout between Uriah Hall and MMA legend Vitor Belfort, and an additional women’s flyweight fight between Jessica Eye and Kalindra Faria.
How do you think Paige VanZant will look in her long-awaited return to the cage? Do you think flyweight is the division for her?
