Paul Craig reveals Jamahal Hill’s mom sent him a thank you message shortly after he defeated her son: “You took Jamahal to the next level”

Harry Kettle - March 17, 2022

UFC light heavyweight Paul Craig has revealed that Jamahal Hill’s mother sent him a thank you message after their UFC 263 bout. Back at UFC 263 last summer, Paul Craig recorded one of the nastiest submissions in recent memory when he dislocated the elbow of Jamahal Hill and pulled off a tremendous TKO upset win. The victory took his current unbeaten streak up to five and served as the only loss, to date, on the professional record of Hill.

Jamahal Hill admits elbow dislocation against Paul Craig was karma for "disrespecting the game"

Adam D Martin - September 10, 2021

UFC light heavyweight contender Jamahal Hill admitted his elbow dislocation against Paul Craig was karma for “disrespecting the game.” Hill suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in MMA this year when he had his arm twisted by Craig during their light heavyweight bout back at UFC 263 in June. While it appeared as though Hill had broken his arm at first, he was thankfully able to walk away with only his elbow being dislocated. Because it wasn’t a fracture, the doctors were able to fix the dislocated elbow, and now Hill returns in December when he takes on Jimmy Crute.

Jamahal Hill shares hilarious meme following elbow injury against Paul Craig at UFC 263

Adam D Martin - August 26, 2021

UFC light heavyweight contender Jamahal Hill shared a hilarious meme following his nasty elbow injury suffered against Paul Craig at UFC 263. Despite being the heavy betting favorite entering the fight on account of his unbeaten 8-0, 1 NC record heading into UFC 263, Hill was finished by Craig early in the first round of their quick, but exciting fight. Craig was able to pull guard quickly in the first round, get Hill to the mat, and then lock him up in an armbar, which Hill refused to tap to. Hill’s elbow then dislocated but referee Al Guinee didn’t see the injury and let the fight go on for a few more seconds, which resulted in Craig smashing Hill with ground strikes to win via TKO.

Adam D Martin - June 15, 2021

Jamahal Hill doesn’t blame referee Al Guinee at UFC 263, saying that “he gave me a chance to try to pull off something spectacular.” Hill had his arm dislocated by a first-round armbar by Craig in their UFC 263 pay-per-view opener. Craig pulled guard and was quickly able to get Hill into a vulnerable position with his limb, which led to it being dislocated. However, the referee didn’t see the injury and the fight continued, with Craig continuing to rain down blows on his opponent’s head while he was in his guard. The referee then finally stopped the fight due to TKO (punches).

The fight continued with Craig holding Hill in a triangle until the referee finally stopped the fight due to TKO via punches from the guard.

Jamahal Hill praises "warrior" Paul Craig following brutal submission loss at UFC 263

Adam Martin - June 13, 2021

UFC light heavyweight Jamahal Hill praised “warrior” opponent Paul Craig following his brutal submission loss at UFC 263. Hill had his arm dislocated by a first-round armbar submission attempt by Craig in their UFC 263 pay-per-view fight. Craig pulled guard and was able to grab a hold of Hill’s arm, and he was able to dislocate it with a nasty submission. However, referee Al Guinee didn’t see the arm dislocate, and he also missed Hill tapping out, and the fight continued for a few more seconds, with Paul pounding Hill out with hammer fists and winning via TKO. It was an absolutely brutal submission and it temporarily cost Hill the use of his arm. Fortunately, the arm wasn’t broken, but he lost the fight as the favorite nonetheless.

Anthony Smith reacts following submission win over Devin Clark, suggests Paul Craig be his next opponent

Adam D Martin - November 29, 2020

UFC light heavyweight Anthony Smith said that following his tapout win over Devin Clark at UFC Vegas 15, he wants to fight Paul Craig next. Smith put on a stunning performance on Saturday night at UFC Vegas 15 as he tapped out Clark in the first round with a vicious triangle choke. For Smith, it was a badly-needed win after getting steamrolled by Glover Teixeira and Aleksandar Rakic in his last two fights. It was the kind of win that makes people remember why Smith was so highly-ranked in the first place, and although Clark was an unranked fighter, beating him so impressively should result in Smith facing a ranked foe next time out.

Dana White hopes Shogun Rua will retire following TKO loss to Paul Craig at UFC 255

Adam D Martin - November 22, 2020

UFC president Dana White hopes that former light heavyweight champion Shogun Rua will retire following his TKO loss to Paul Craig at UFC 255. In November 2019, Rua and Craig met at UFC Fight Night: Blachowicz vs. Jacare and fought to a rare split draw in an excellent fight. Since then, Craig has picked up a submission win over Gadzhimurad Antigulov while Rua defeated Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. With both men fighting and winning this past July on the UFC Fight Island: Whittaker vs. Till card, it made sense to match them up for a rematch before 2020 was over.
