VIDEO | Quinton “Rampage” Jackson says his biggest regret is starting MMA

Next Friday, in the main event of Bellator 175, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will step onto the canvas for a heavyweight bout with rival Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal. The bout will be a rematch of a 2014 light heavyweight contest, and it stands out as one of the biggest fights of Rampage’s already impressive Bellator career.

Despite having this big fight on the horizon, however, Rampage doesn’t seem to be especially happy with his career. In fact, he recently admitted that his biggest regret is getting into MMA to begin with. He made this surprising admission during an interview with ESPN, citing a desire to be with his family back home as the reason for it.

“My biggest regret? I would have to say my biggest regret is even starting this sport,” Rampage said. “I think I would have lived a different life if I had stayed home in Memphis and worked at the family [construction] business. I would be closer to my family, and growing old with them instead of living out in California. All my family’s back at home. Now my little sister’s all grown and stuff – I left home when she was like eight. My biggest regret is… my dream was to go out and be a fighter, but now I look back on it and I wish I would have just stayed back home with my family.”

“I gained a lot of fans, I made a lot of money, but I feel like I lost my family,” he continued. “I don’t see them, you know what I’m saying? I don’t know them. My parents are getting older and I’m living in California away from them. I have my own family here, my kids and stuff, but I miss my cousins and my parents and my sister and brothers.”
