Rafael dos Anjos responds to Colby Covington’s call out
On Saturday night, the UFC touched down in snowy Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with UFC on Fox 26. In the card’s exciting main event, former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos asserted himself as one of the welterweight division’s top contenders, defeating former titleholder Robbie Lawler with a dominant, unanimous decision win.
Not everyone, of course, was impressed by dos Anjos’ huge win. Colby Covington – who is really the only other man with legitimate claim to a welterweight title shot – quickly took to Twitter post-fight to discredit his rival’s win.
Sad performance by the JV Squad on FOX for #UFCWinnipeg . RDA couldn’t even finish a broken old man! Tyrones faking injuries. I’m here to make this division great again. @RdosAnjosMMA step up and defend that #dump you call home & fight me for the interim title you #FilthyAnimal

Hey Brazil! You only have one guy left in the @ufc top 10 who can defend your dump of a country IF he has the testículos to take on The King. Hit @RdosAnjosMMA up and let him know what the #FilthyAnimals want. I got a division to make great again. pic.twitter.com/x0iz9ZQzXp

Speaking at the UFC on Fox 26 post-fight press conference, Rafael dos Anjos addressed these comments from Colby Covington.
“I have no comments about that guy, man,” dos Anjos said (h/t MMAJunkie.com). “That guy has 6,000 followers on Twitter. He’s just talking crap about people. He showed nothing to the division. He’s beat nobody. He beat Demian Maia, but he looked really bad when he fought Demian, and I have no comments on that guy.”
“I’m just on my way to a second belt,” dos Anjos said.
Having shrugged off the possibility of a fight with Colby Covington, Rafael dos Anjos then broke down a potential fight with Woodley:
“I think when (Woodley) fought Demian (Maia), he was worried about takedowns only,” dos Anjos said. “When he fought (Stephen) ‘Wonderboy’ (Thompson), he was worried only about stand-up. I think with me, he’s got to worry about everywhere. He’s going to have a lot of things to worry about.”
Do you think Rafael dos Anjos has earned a fight with Tyron Woodley?
