Tyron Woodley Tells Rafael dos Anjos He’s Wasting His Time Campaigning for the Title Shot
Tyron Woodley is out recovering for his shoulder surgery, meanwhile the welterweights are all pacing back and forth to see who gets the next shot. Dana White went on record saying that the winner of Rafael dos Anjos and Robbie Lawler’s fight would get to fight Woodley for a title, after dos Anjos dominated the fight, it seemed like the next logical option. He still is campaigning for the shot while Tyron Woodley has other plans than the former lightweight champ and his boss: Georges St-Pierre, then dos Anjos.
“I don’t see nobody ahead of me that deserve a next title shot, I’m former lightweight champion and I’ve been on the UFC for almost 10 years. 2017 was a great year and I’m looking forward for 2018.” — Rafael dos Anjos on Instagram.

“Why are you campaigning for something you don’t have to? Your placement is your placement, my man. That idiot ‘Coward Qweefington’ [Colby Covington] is not ahead of you, bro. Georges St-Pierre, then you. Enjoy family time. Do a few seminars and stay ready, Rafael dos Anjos. Happy new year.” — Tyron Woodley commenting on Rafael dos Anjos’ Instagram.
This won’t make Colby Covington or Rafael dos Anjos happy, but Tyron Woodley has been wanted to test himself against the best welterweight in the world for a long time. With St-Pierre vacating the UFC middleweight title and the division due to his health, if he is still planning on fighting out his UFC contract then they aren’t many options at all for him. Either way, St-Pierre was part of making UFC 217 the highest PPV draw of the year and with Conor McGregor’s future up in the air, GSP is their ticket to big numbers. Of course, nothing is official and Woodley could just end up fighting dos Anjos anyway depending on the UFC and St-Pierre’s decision.
