UFC President Dana White: ‘I think Rashad Evans is probably going to retire’
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans swallowed a tough pill on Saturday after being knocked out by the heavy hands of Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC on FOX 19.
Despite only having two consecutive losses in his past two fights in the Octagon, the brutal knockout was the first time “Suga” was stopped since being knocked out by Lyoto Machida in their title fight back in 2009.
Injuries have sidelined Evans recently with only having one fight in 2015, which was a decision loss to Ryan Bader. Evan’s last win was in 2013 when he beat Chael Sonnen by TKO in the first round.
After the devastating loss on Saturday, UFC President Dana White said that he believes this is the end for Evans.
“I think Rashad is probably going to retire,” White said in a backstage interview (transcribed by MMA Weekly).
While Rashad says they fighting is still what he loves to do, White believes that retirement has been on the former champ’s mind for some time now.
