With a win at UFC 225, Rashad Evans could call it a career
It’s been quite the career for The Ultimate Fighter season 2 winner, Rashad Evans.
Evans won TUF 2 as a heavyweight in 2005 to begin his UFC journey. Eight fights later, he would be hoisting up light heavyweight gold after TKOing the champion and TUF 1 winner, Forrest Griffin.
Evans was 13-0-1 when he became champion and possesses one of the best resumes in the light heavyweight division’s history. He has wins over several Hall of Famers and legends of the sport but now at age 38 and on the worst skid of his career, things could be winding down for the 22 fight UFC veteran.
Having not won a fight since 2013 and lost four in a row, the man known as ‘Suga’ is incredibly eager to get back in the win column. After a brief stint at middleweight, Evans is returning to light heavyweight against a former 185er in Anthony Smith.
When asked by MMAFighting today if we could possibly see the former champion hang up the gloves with a win on Saturday, he had this to say.
“That would be great [to retire on a win]. I could…I could do it, I definitely could. At the end of the day, you know…i’ve always said I wanted to fight and keep fighting as long as it was right for me emotionally and spiritually. And you know, if I get a win who knows. Who knows what it will be.”
Evans vs Smith will be the final fight on the Fight Pass portion of UFC 225 in Chicago, Illinois. This marks Evans’ first time being this low on a card in his entire UFC career.
