Athlete outfitting pay for UFC Gdansk: Darren Till pockets $2,500
On Saturday, the UFC returned to Poland with the exciting 11-fight UFC Gdansk card.
In the UFC Gdansk main event, rising British welterweight Darren Till picked up a career-changing knockout win, levelling long-time contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in the first frame. In the co-main event, meanwhile, Polish strawweight contender Karolina Kowalkiewicz picked up a sorely-needed win over Invicta FC veteran Jodie Esquibel.
Elsewhere on the card, we saw Polish light heavyweight Jan Blachowicz author an incredible standing bulldog choke, while other fighters like Marcin Held, Andre Fili, Warlley Alves, Aspen Ladd and Josh Emmett also picked up impressive wins.
At the moment, the purses for UFC Gdansk are not known. We do, however, know how much each of the card’s 22 fighters took home for wearing Reebok.
Under the UFC’s deal with Reebok, fighters are paid based on the amount of fights they’ve had in the UFC’s Octagon, and in the Zuffa-owned eras of Strikeforce (April 2011 and after) and WEC (January 2007 and after). Champions and title challengers, however, are paid $40,000 and $30,000 respectively, regardless of their experience in the aforementioned promotions. These are the two highest payouts possible under this UFC-Reebok partnership.
Under this framework. the card’s biggest earner was unsurprisingly Donald Cerrone, who pocketed $20,000. The next biggest earners, meanwhile, were Felipe Arantes and Sam Alvey, who took home $10,000 each. No other fighter on the card made more than $5000, with the majority – including main event winner Darren Till – making just $2500.
