The UFC is debuting some new Reebok fight kits at UFC 215, and they’re a massive improvement

It is arguable that the most criticized aspect of the UFC today is the promotion’s outfitting deal with sports apparel giant Reebok. This outfitting deal is constantly trashed by fans and fighters alike, primarily for the its often paltry payouts, but also for its total lack of aesthetic variety. With the exception of national colors, and a bit of gold for title-holding fighters, the Reebok ‘fight kits’ as we have come to know them are all pretty similar.

As it turns out, that is finally changing.

The UFC and Reebok have announced a massive overhaul of their fight kits, which will allow main and co-main event fighters to extensively customize their gear. The updated fight kits – part of a series called the “UFC Legacy Series” – will debut at this weekend’s UFC 215, meaning that we’ll see headliners Demetrious Johnson and Ray Borg, and co-headliners Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko walking out in much more unique gear.

The UFC 215 main card will also feature a welterweight bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Neil Magny, a light heavyweight bout between Ilir Latifi and Tyson Pedro, and a featherweight bout between Gilbert Melendez and Jeremy Stephens. Regrettably, these fighters won’t be rocking the same customized gear as the card’s headliners and co-headliners. They will. however, be wearing some modified Reebok gear that also stands out as a big improvement. What do you think of this overhaul of the UFC’s outfitting deal with Reebok? Is this a step in the right direction, or should better payouts have taken priority over better designs?
