Colby Covington picked up arguably the biggest win of his MMA career today, defeating Robbie Lawler in the UFC Newark main event. Covington was able to dominate Lawler for all five rounds of their event headlining scrap, resulting in a unanimous decision victory from the judges in attendance.

As such, reigning champ Kamaru Usman will be watching the action closely. Lawler used to train at American Top Team, the gym Covington still calls home, and the pair actually got quite a bit of training in together over the years. Usman believes their previous training sessions could definitely play a psychological role in their fight — though he’s not sure who will benefit.

The two were set to run it back following their first encounter at UFC 201. There, Woodley knocked out Lawler in the first round to become the new champion. “The Chosen One” was looking to get back on track after losing his belt to Kamaru Usman in his most recent octagon appearance  at UFC 235. But, a hand injury has forced Woodley to pull out of the fight and he explained why on Instagram live.
