Late last week, news broke that Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza would be returning to the Octagon against Tim Boetsch at UFC 208. Given Jacare’s status as a staple of the middleweight top-5, and Boetsch’s position on the outermost edge of the top-15, this was a bit of a strange booking. According to Jacare, however, it was the best available option. The Brazilian explained his reasons for taking the fight in an interview with MMAFighting.com.

Ronaldo Jacare Souza is apparently set to return to competition. According to Mark La Monica of Newsday, Jacare will return to the Octagon at UFC 208 in Brooklyn to face Tim Boetsch.

Tim Kennedy just arrived in New York for his scheduled match against Rashad Evans on Tuesday only to find out that Evans was pulled from competition. Not long ago, top middleweight contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza was expected to take on Luke Rockhold in the main event of the UFC’s November 26 return to Melbourne, Australia. When Rockhold was forced out of the bout with an injury, however, Jacare was left without a dance partner. Though this injury was certainly an unfortunate twist, it also left Jacare in the perfect position to call out UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping. Unfortunately for the Brazilian contender, however, Bisping shut down these callouts, explaining that he was still recovering from injuries sustained in his razor close October title defense against Dan Henderson.

Many fans were disappointed to hear the news on Wednesday that the Luke Rockhold vs. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza UFC Fight Night 101 main event bout was canceled due to Rockhold suffering an injury, which was first reported by Ariel Helwani for MMA Fighting. The two were supposed to meet in a rematch in Melbourne, Australia at Rod Laver Arena on November 26. The two first fought in Strikeforce for Souza’s middleweight title back in 2011 where Rockhold won a unanimous decision where many thought the fight could have gone either way.

The win pushed the talented grappler to a fantastic 9-1 in his last 10–a controversial loss to Yoel Romero being his only hiccup in that stretch. In the wake of his defeat of Belfort, Jacare spent some time on the shelf with an injury. But according to a Tuesday Instagram post, he’s now recovered, and he wants to know who you’d like to see him fight next.

That has prompted UFC middleweight #1 contender Jacare Souza to call St-Pierre out for a middleweight fight. Surprisingly, Souza put the former welterweight champion on blast!

At UFC 199 earlier this month, Michael Bisping shocked the world as he knocked out Luke Rockhold in the very first round of their middleweight title fight. Bisping stepped in on short notice for former middleweight champion Chris Weidman, who injured his neck just two weeks before the fight. On the same card, MMA legend Dan Henderson fought, and defeated, former Olympian Hector Lombard via vicious KO. Given that both Bisping and Henderson were victorious on the card, many began calling for a second fight between the two.
