Don Frye rips Ronda Rousey, predicts former champ will “never fight again”
UFC Hall of Famer Don Frye is one of the most polarizing figures in the sport. The often brash MMA icon frequently makes bold claims that get the MMA community rilled up.
With that being said it shouldn’t be a surprise that Frye’s recent comments in regards to former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will likely stir some commotion as well.
Since Ronda Rousey was horrifically knocked out by Holly Holm back in November at UFC 193, talks of a potential Rousey return have never been far from the mouths of MMA fans.
While Rousey was initially supposed to film several movies before returning to the Octagon, her return has continually been postponed. With UFC 205 rapidly approaching in November, many expected Rousey to return to the Octagon for the historic card, however UFC President Dana White revealed recently that Rousey will be unable to return for the event.
Now, with White stating that Rousey returning at UFC 207 is a very realistic possibility, Frye believes that the former champ will never return to the Octagon following such a brutal loss:
He spoke on Submission Radio:
“No, she’s not coming back. She’ll never fight again. She used to be able to draw fans, now she can’t. Everybody’s seen through her. If she wants to come back, she should do her rematch against Holly Holm. And then if you beat Holly, then you can have a title match. But if you get your ass kicked like that, you don’t deserve a title match.”
If Rousey does choose to return to the Octagon, there’s no shortage of potential opponents for her to face. In addition to a potential rematch with Holly Holm, Julianna Pena has been very open about her desire for a rematch with Rousey. In addition, Rousey could take a rematch with Cat Zingano, a trilogy fight with Miesha Tate, or even possibly a title fight with Amanda Nunes.
What do you think PENN Nation? Will Ronda Rousey ever return to the Octagon, and who would you want to see her fight if she does?
