Bellator’s Scott Coker on Rory MacDonald: ‘He’s a guy that we’d be interested in talking to’
Rory MacDonald has made it known that he feels he is worth more money than what the UFC is currently paying him.
Although MacDonald said in a recent interview with MMA Junkie that his ideal situation would be to re-sign with the UFC with what he feels he is worth and go for the UFC welterweight title, Bellator President Scott Coker may be able to change his mind.
“Now, there’s more than one buyer, which is good for the market, which is good for individuals, which is good for the league, which is good for the industry,” Coker told MMA Junkie at a recent press conference.
With MacDonald recently commenting on the issues of UFC 200 and Conor McGregor, Coker sees this as Bellator’s opportunity.
“He’s a guy that we’d be interested in talking to, if the time is right,” Coker said.
MacDonald is set to fight Stephen Thompson at UFC Fight Night 89 in the main event, which will also be the last fight on MacDonald’s current UFC contract.
Will the UFC pay Rory MacDonald what he wants, or will Bellator be able to acquire one of the top welterweight MMA fighters in the world?
