Rory MacDonald receives stern warning from Bellator middleweight champ
From the moment he joined the Bellator MMA roster, Rory MacDonald has made no secret of his plans. He wants to capture Bellator welterweight gold, he wants to capture Bellator middleweight gold, and he wants to take part in super fights with far heavier opponents ranging from Fedor Emelianenko to Wanderlei Silva.
“I’d like to fight for the middleweight title maybe at the end of the year if there is a big card we can promote and get me and the middleweight champion on there,” MacDonald said shortly after his recent destruction of Paul Daley. “Obviously, I am not looking past the welterweight championship fight, I’m just saying if everything goes as planned. An end of the year show for the middleweight title would be fantastic.”
MacDonald’s gutsiness has generated a positive reception from the fans, all of whom are eager to see just what he can accomplish in the Bellator cage. Bellator’s middleweight champion Rafael Carvalho, however, is not impressed by MacDonald’s confidence and ambition.
In a recent video shared Twitter by Fernando Rudnick, the middleweight champ issues a stern warning to MacDonald. See Carvalho’s message to the new Bellator star below.

“Hey Rory MacDonald, I heard you want to fight for the middleweight title in December,” Carvalho says in the video. “This is what I have to say to you: You got on the bus just now and you already want to sit at the window? Ok, let’s do it this way. Don’t leave it to December, let’s decide this now. Don’t leave for tomorrow what you can do today. If you want I can fight you tomorrow, next month, any day. Just choose the date and try your luck.”
These comments from the middleweight champ prompted a reply from MacDonald, which can be seen below:
@fernandorudnick @BellatorMMA @rafacarvalhomma no i dont want a seat at the window, i want the whole bus, so im here to take it
