Rumor: Lil Nog withdraws from UFC 161 bout with Shogun Rua
Rumors have been swirling around the internet today that Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (21-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout with “Shogun” Rua (21-7 MMA, 5-5 UFC) at UFC 161, which is less than two weeks away.
The rematch between Shogun and Lil Nog was supposed to serve as the evenings co-main event. All of this after the original main event between UFC interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao (30-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) and challenger Eddie Wineland (20-8-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) was scrapped due to a foot injury suffered by Barao.
If the rumor proves true, the UFC will be hard pressed to find a suitable replacement to face Shogun on 13 days notice.
UFC 161 takes place June 15 live from the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The main card airs on pay-per-view following the prelims on FX and Facebook.
