Paul Daley fires back at Bellator boss Scott Coker: he’s bitter

By Tom Taylor - March 12, 2018

Paul Daley vs. Michael “Venom” Page is just one of those fights. The fans want it, Bellator MMA wants it, and both fighters claim to want it, yet the relevant parties just can’t seem to come to an agreement to make it happen.

When it comes to this fight’s failure to come to fruition, we’ve seen the blame tossed around like a hot potato. The latest recipient of this blame was Daley, who was recently named as the reason the fight hasn’t been booked yet by Bellator president Scott Coker.

“I think that’s something you should ask Paul Daley,” the Bellator president told MMAnytt.com when asked about this potential Daley vs. Page fight. “He’s the one that said he wanted to fight [Page], called him out and then he changed his mind. Maybe he will change his mind again, but we’re always going to ask I can assure you.

“Absolutely, I think that fight should happen in the future, and I think it should happen here in the UK.”

Unsurprisingly, Daley is not willing to accept the blame for this fight’s failure to achieve liftoff. Instead, he feels Coker is just being “bitter.”

“Scott has his opinion; it’s his view. He’s bitter,” Daley told MMAJunkie in a text message. “He just wanted the Page fight on his timing. They didn’t want to give me the [Jon] Fitch fight. I forced their hand, no matter how much they try to deny it.”

“I’ve asked for both contracts at the same time. [I’ll] sign both. I have the Fitch contract. We just got to negotiate the Page contract, and I will sign that too.”

Paul Daley will fight Jon Fitch at Bellator 199 on May 12. Whether a fight with Page occurs in the subsequent months remains to be seen.

Do you think Paul Daley and Michael Page will ever fight?
