Joe Rogan gets ‘drunk on a plane,’ reminisces on good times with Mike Goldberg
UFC color commentator Joe Rogan has had plenty of company at the broadcast booth during his last few assignments, as he has been accompanied by some combination of Jon Anik, Dominick Cruz, and Daniel Cormier. Until the beginning of this year, however, Rogan generally only shared the broadcast desk with one man: Mike Goldberg.
Goldberg, however, was let go by the UFC in late 2017, as part of a string of layoffs effected by the promotion’s new owners, WME-IMG. The long-time play-by-play man did his last broadcast at December’s UFC 207, with nothing in the way of fanfare or thanks.
While Rogan is clearly having a great time calling fights with Anik and decorated fighters like Cormier and Cruz, however, he is clearly still missing his old partner. Shortly after Saturday night’s UFC 210, which saw him work the broadcast desk with Anik and Cruz, he posted to Instagram, explaining that while he loves his new partners, he’s still also misses his old one. The commentator and comedian also admitted he was ‘drunk on a plane,’ and feeling a little bit sentimental with some alcohol in his system. Fair enough!

Great times,” Rogan said in his post. “I still miss Mike Goldberg but I love working with these dudes. Goldie will have a special place in my heart forever. We shared some amazing moments. I may or may not be drunk on a plane right now feeling sentimental.”
Rogan was not the only person to give Goldberg a little shoutout during the craziness of UFC 210. Shortly after coming up short in UFC 210’s main event, Anthony “Rumble” Johnson directed some love at the former play-by-play man in his surprise retirement speech.
Do you think Mike Golberg should have kept his UFC commentary job alongside Joe Rogan? Sound off, PENN Nation!
