Stefan Struve gets a new opponent for UFC 204

By Chris Taylor - September 15, 2016

Coming off a blistering 16-second knockout win over Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva, Stefan Struve is looking to build on that momentum at UFC 204 in October.

‘The Skyscraper’ almost didn’t get the chance however after his original opponent Ruslan Magomedov was forced off of the card with a staph infection. Now, it appears Struve will remain on the card as Daniel Omielanczuk has agreed to step in as Magomedov’s replacement.

The 34-year-old Pole is currently riding a three fight win streak, most recently defeating Oleksiy Oliynyk in July 2016. Omielanczuk has gone 4-2 since debuting in the Octagon back at UFC 165 in 2013.

UFC 204 takes place in Manchester, England on October 8 and is headlined by a title fight rematch between longtime adversaries Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson. Henderson and Bisping first met at UFC 100, with “Hendo” earning a brutal knockout victory over “The Count”.

So far, the bout order is still being determined, however the Struve-Oliemanczuk fight will take place on the PPV portion of the card.

How do you see this heavyweight fight going down? Will Struve capitalize on his momentum after scoring one of the quickest knockouts in heavyweight history, or will Oliemanczuk extend his win streak to four? Sound off in the comments section, PENN Nation!
