BJPENN.com broke the news earlier this week after confirming with sources that “Wonderboy” had accepted a bout with the undefeated Liverpool native.

On paper, the Till vs. Thompson matchup is a fight fans dream.

Both men are terrific strikers, with “Wonderboy” being arguably the most dynamic and creative fighter on the entire UFC roster.

Thompson has gone an impressive 8-1-1 over his past ten octagon appearances, with his lone setback in that time coming at the hands of current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in the main event of UFC 209.

In his most recent outing, “Wonderboy” utilized his masterful striking to outpoint the always dangerous Jorge Masvidal on route to a unanimous decision victory at November’s UFC 217 event in New York.

During his fantastic run with the UFC, Thompson has scored a plethora of memorable wins including knockout victories over Jake Ellenberger, former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks and current UFC middleweight title holder Robert Whittaker.

“Wonderboy” now takes his talents overseas where a “Gorilla” awaits him in the form of undefeated welterweight Darren Till.

The Liverpool native is coming off the biggest win of his young career after scoring a spectacular first-round knockout victory over UFC legend Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone last fall.

Till is an absolutely massive welterweight and will need to utilize his size and power if he plans on solving the riddle known as “Wonderboy”.

Darren has stated in recent interviews that he wants to prove himself as the promotions best striker by knocking Thompson out on his feet.

While standing and trading with “Wonderboy” may be admirable, previous opponents of Thompson would likely tell you that it is not a wise decision.

With that said, Darren Till is oozing confidence and strongly believes that he will be able to outsmart Thompson in the stand-up game.

The Liverpool native, Till, will likely take a long hard look at Thompson’s previous scraps with current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley from UFC 205 and UFC 209.

“The Chosen One” utilized a patient gameplan which included some timely takedowns to best Thompson at UFC 209 last April, this after fighting “Wonderboy” to a draw at UFC 205 in November of 2016.

The highly anticipated matchup has both men clamoring for a finish, as Stephen Thompson recently revealed his intentions for the May 27 headliner to Chris Taylor.

“It’s going to be a good one for sure. I definitely plan on finishing him.”
