Stephen Thompson has NOT been contacted by UFC officials about fighting Darren Till in Liverpool
Undefeated welterweight contender Darren Till (16-0-1 MMA) is hoping to score a fight with former two-time UFC title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson (14-2-1 MMA).
Earlier this week it was announced that Darren Till would be headlining UFC Fight Night 130 which takes place on May 27 in his hometown of Liverpool, England. Till’s opponent for the event has yet to be named by the promotion.
If Till has his way, the UFC will give him a chance to throw down with Stephen Thompson in his backyard of Liverpool where he hopes to prove that he is the promotions “best striker”.
“Wonderboy”, who is currently recovering from a hand injury, recently spoke with BJPENN.com’s Chris Taylor where he revealed that the UFC has not (yet) contacted him about fighting Darren Till this May in Liverpool.
I just spoke to former UFC welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson who informed me that the UFC has NOT reached out to him about fighting Darren Till at UFC Liverpool in May. #UFCLiverpool https://t.co/2VWAy4gxoR

Stephen Thompson confirmed to Chris Taylor that he was back trainig in the gym but added that his hand is still not fully healed.
Wonderboy told me that he is back in the gym, but added that his hand is not yet fully healed. I would say there’s a good chance he could participate on May 27 if offered. #UFCLiverpool https://t.co/vegvfH1nGQ

Stephen Thompson was most recently seen in action at November’s UFC 217 event in New York where he scored a unanimous decision victory over perennial division contender Jorge Masvidal.
Arguably the UFC’s best striker, “Wonderboy” has gone 8-1-1 over his past ten UFC fights which includes knockout victories over Jake Ellenberger, former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks and current UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker.
If Thompson is not offered the vacant headlining spot at UFC Liverpool, or simply can’t compete due to his current hand injury, the promotion can always turn to Leon Edwards who recently called out Darren Till following his stoppage victory over Peter Sobotta at yesterday’s UFC Fight Night 127 event in London.
