Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic share classy post-fight exchange

By Thomas Taylor - July 9, 2018

Last Saturday night, in the main event of the absurdly stacked UFC 226 card, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier ended Stipe Miocic’s reign as the UFC’s most dominant heavyweight champion with a thunderous, first-round punch and volley of followup strikes.

Despite the violent and decisive outcome of this fight, there has been nothing but respect between Cormier and Miocic in the days since.

On Monday afternoon the mutual respect between the two heavyweight greats continued, as Miocic addressed Cormier on Twitter, suggesting a future rematch, and Cormier responded, wishing Miocic continued success.

See the pair’s classy exchange below:

“Congrats to DC,” Miocic said on Twitter. “Didn’t get the chance to say it in the cage, but let’s dance again and get a rematch before you call it a career.”

“Thanks to my coaches and team,” the former heavyweight champ continued. “Being the greatest heavyweight in UFC history is a career-long journey that doesn’t end here. I’m more motivated than ever!”

“My brother it was an honor to share the cage with you,” Cormier replied, before wishing Cormier the best in his fighting career, and with his new baby. “I know you’ll be back better than ever champ. Head up and good luck with baby.”

Needless to say, there is a tremendous mutual respect between these two stars. Considering they spent weeks getting to know one another on the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter, and seemed to be quite friendly throughout, that’s hardly a surprise.

Do you like the idea of a rematch between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier? Who do you think would come out on top?
