VIDEO | Stipe Miocic Talks to Joe Rogan About Francis Ngannou

Justin Golightly - December 13, 2017

One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. All finishes. Everyone Francis Ngannou has tested his record-breaking power on has not been able to take it. The latest victory over former K-1 grand prix champion Alistair Overeem, earned the surging contender the biggest fight of his career. At UFC 220 in Boston early next year, he will fight Stipe Miocic for the UFC heavyweight title. The full-time firefighter isn’t phases though. He spoke to Joe Rogan today about the match-up and claims no one — not even Ngannou — will take the belt from him. “I think [Francis Ngannou]’s a great fighter, you know? Definitely. He brings it. He hits hard. Unfortunately, nothing’s going to change. I’m walking out with the belt still wrapped around my waist. I’m excited for him. You know, he’s getting a shot, but as long as I’m here no one’s going to be the champ. His power I guess, [stands out] but I think everyone hits hard in the heavyweight division. A 260-pound man, 250-pound man — you’re not supposed to be hit by something like that. I fought [Junior dos Santos]. I fought Roy Nelson. I fought Mark Hunt. I mean, I fought guys who threw hard. He’s a little wild, too. That’s tough. Sometimes you can’t prepare for that because there are punches you don’t see.”

In doing so, Miocic scored another first-round finish and avenged a 2014 decision loss to dos Santos. Champ Stipe Miocic reacts to Francis Ngannou's big win, expected heavyweight title shot

Tom Taylor - December 4, 2017

Last weekend, in the co-main event of the absolutely wild UFC 218 card, surging heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou picked up the biggest win of his career thus far, punching Alistair Overeem’s head into outer space, where it is believed to have settled somewhere among the comets and asteroids of the Kuiper Belt. With this absolutely destructive victory, the French-Cameroonian juggernaut seems to have positioned himself for a fight with dominant UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. While Ngannou could easily be the most dangerous challenger of Miocic’s reign thus far, the champ doesn’t seem to be particularly worried. Shortly after Ngannou’s big UFC 218 win, he took to Twitter with a simple, yet clear message: “And Still.” In other words, he expects to leave a prospective battle with Ngannou with the belt still wrapped tightly around his midsection.

VIDEO | Fabricio Werdum Says Francis Ngannou Isn't Ready For Stipe Miocic

Justin Golightly - November 17, 2017

If Fabricio Werdum’s turnaround from UFC 216 seems quick, that’s because it is, but Werdum knows what he’s doing. He’s been doing everything he can to get back the title that Stipe Miocic took from here and stacking together dominant performances in a short amount of time will only sway his chances. In an interview before his UFC Sydney fight, Werdum states that’s all he’s been waiting for and that surging contender Francis Ngannou just isn’t there yet. “I want to show inside the cage that I’m waiting for the title shot. This, I think is the best way. I put in my mind, I’m just waiting for the title shot. How long am I waiting? I don’t want to have to wait for too much. I wait for like six months and one year for a [second] fight with Stipe Miocic. My big goal is not Stipe Miocic. My big goal is the belt. I want the belt. That’s it. It doesn’t matter who is there. In my mind, I’m waiting, waiting, waiting for a long time for the fight. I’m waiting, waiting, waiting and maybe these guys don’t get an opportunity. I want to show I’m waiting for the fight, for the title shot again. I have two belts in my home. I want number three.”

Francis Ngannou Predicts He Knocks Stipe Miocic Out

Justin Golightly - September 26, 2017

The fight triangle between the elite heavyweight beasts is still ongoing. Francis Ngannou was robbed of a giant clash with Junior dos Santos that assuredly would have propelled his career to the top if he managed to come out with a win against the former UFC heavyweight champ. Ever since then, he’s been very vocal about fights with both Alistair Overeem and belt holder Stipe Miocic. He’s up for either one still, but of course he’d rather fight the man with the strap. Not only does he like his chances to win, but Francis Ngannou thinks he could knock out Miocic. “I already know everything [Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem] are able to do. Everyone knows all of their skills. They don’t know mine. They’re still discovering mine. I’m bringing a surprise in every fight. I’ve never had the opportunity to show my whole game yet. I knock Stipe out when we fight. I think under three rounds, I knock him out.”

Stipe Miocic has a message for Jon Jones

Tom Taylor - August 8, 2017

In the buildup to and immediate fallout of his UFC 214 title fight with Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones has expressed real interest in a fight with former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. The reason for this callout of Lesnar, Jones explained, is because he believes a fight with a superstar with Lesnar at heavyweight would be even more lucrative than a fight with reigning heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. “I feel like if I was going to take a fight at heavyweight it would be against a person who me and my coaches feel would be a perfect matchup for me,” Jones told the media at the UFC 214 post fight press conference. “Right now, Stipe is looking extremely impressive. And I believe if you get an extremely talented big guy versus an extremely talented little guy, I mean, a lot of the cards are in his favor. At the same time, I fear no man. I strike for a reason when I strike.”

Jon Jones explains why he called out Brock Lesnar instead of Stipe Miocic

Chris Taylor - July 30, 2017

Jon Jones was able to reclaim his UFC light heavyweight championship at last night’s UFC 214 event in Anaheim, by defeating Daniel Cormier via third-round knockout. After two very closely contested rounds with “DC”, Jones was able to land a beautiful head kick in round three which left Cormier on wobbly legs and in all sorts of trouble. From there, “Bones” would get Cormier to the ground where he unleashed some brutal ground and pound which forced the referee to step in and call the contest.

Francis Ngannou isn't impressed by Stipe Miocic, does not consider him the best heavyweight on the planet

Tom Taylor - May 15, 2017

This win impressed the hell out of most members of the MMA community – but not surging contender Francis Ngannou. Despite lopsided win, Stipe Miocic didn't want to hurt Junior Dos Santos

Tom Taylor - May 15, 2017

Over the weekend, in the main event of the stacked UFC 211, UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic made the second defense of his title with a crushing, first-round TKO of Junior Dos Santos. This win also served as a bit of vengeance for Miocic, who gave up a close decision to Dos Santos when they first met back in 2014. While revenge was certainly part of Miocic’s mission leading into this title fight, he and Dos Santos actually got along very well. As such, Miocic says he was hesitant to punish his foe any more than necessary. The champ explained this feeling at the UFC 211 post-fight press conference.
