On January 21st, UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz will step into the cage for the final time when he squares off against former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen for a highly anticipated grudge match. Ahead of the fight, both men have continued to trade verbal jabs at one another, with both men promising to leave the other a bloody mess come January 21st.

The last several weeks of 2016 certainly were interesting ones for Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg. UFC President Dana White revealed several weeks ago that Cris Cyborg, who is 2-0 under the UFC banner at catchweight fights at 140 pounds, had turned down not one, but two opportunities to fight for the inaugural women’s featherweight championship. Subsequently, the promotion announced that former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm and Germaine De Randamie would be competing for the inaugural women’s featherweight championship. Shortly after the promotion announced that Holm and De Randamie would be competing for the inaugural belt, it was announced that the UFC had been notified of a potential anti-doping violation after USADA revealed that Cyborg failed a drug test in December.

While Tito Ortiz is currently gearing up for his Bellator 170 scrap with Chael Sonnen on January 21st, Ortiz has kept the fact that the fight will be his last under wraps, until now. Earlier this year, Sonnen celebrated the end of his two year suspension handed down by the NSAC. Following the end of his suspension, it didn’t take long for Sonnen to announce that he was ending his retirement, and had signed an exclusive multi-fight contract with Bellator MMA. In addition, it didn’t take long for Sonnen to call out former UFC champion Tito Ortiz for a fight, which was eventually booked for January 21st in Inglewood California.

Earlier this week, former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen announced that he had ended his retirement, and signed an exclusive multi-fight contract with Bellator MMA. While no word was given on when Sonnen would be making his Bellator MMA debut, he did reveal that he was looking to make his debut against former UFC champion Tito Ortiz, who is also currently signed to Bellator.

Last night in the co-main event of Bellator 149 Kimbo Slice and Dada 5000 had their highly anticipated grudge match. Ultimately, Slice was awarded the win after Dada 5000 hit the ground from apparent exhaustion. Dada 5000 was then taken out of the cage via a stretcher. While the reaction from the MMA community wasn’t exactly a good one, Tito Ortiz managed to win big with a bet he placed on Kimbo Slice.

Tito Ortiz cited for battery in Las Vegas

News surfaced late Friday evening that former UFC champion Tito Ortiz had been cited for misdemeanor battery outside of a Las Vegas nightclub. The situation in question was with a woman over a cell phone which lead to Ortiz allegedly getting physical in an attempt to take the phone. When police arrived at The Cromwell hotel, Ortiz was not placed under arrest and was issued a citation.
