UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley left Madison Square Garden with his title following an epic five-round war with Stephen Thompson in the evenings co-main event. “The Chosen One” and “Wonderboy” battled to a majority draw, this after two judges scored the fight 47-47 and one judge scored the contest in favor of T-Wood 48-47.

In the co-main event of UFC 205, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley stepped into the Octagon in hopes of defending his welterweight title for the first time. Woodley was quick to take Stephen Thompson down in the first round, landing some ground & pound to bloody up Wonderboy’s face. Thompson went on to pick Woodley apart, pressuring the champ against the cage in the second and third rounds. In the fourth round, things got interesting as Woodley dropped Thompson, nearly finishing him via KO before then nearly finishing the fight via submission. Somehow, Thompson managed to survive the round, and then come back in the fifth in impressive fashion as he outstruck Woodley.

Tonight, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will take the Octagon against UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez in a historic title fight that could see McGregor cement his place in the UFC’s history books as he could potentially become the first simultaneous two-division UFC champion. Woodley walked past McGregor, who appeared to nod at Woodley. When ‘The Chosen One’ didn’t reciprocate the gesture, McGregor continued to eye the welterweight champ down.

Friday morning, both UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor & UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley hit the scales for their respective UFC 205 scraps tomorrow night. While both men are slated to fight different opponents, one would think the pair are slated to fight each other. Backstage footage showed Woodley walking into the room, and McGregor eyeing him down. When Woodley noticed what McGregor was doing, he appeared to say something to him before walking off.

UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, and UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor had a bit of a heated moment Friday morning in New York during the UFC 205 early weigh-ins. Footage of the moment showed Woodley walking past McGregor, who proceeded to eye down the welterweight champ as he passed by. Woodley recognized the situation and appeared to say something to the featherweight champ before walking off.

This weekend, in the co-main event of the blockbuster UFC 205, new welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will attempt the first defense of his title against streaking karate specialist Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. In advance of this massive welterweight showdown, Woodley’s current coach Duke Roufus appeared on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour to discuss his student’s looming challenge. On the show, Roufus was asked for a prediction as to how the match will go, and likened it to a 1971 boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. The bout, which was the first of three between the two boxing legends, saw Frazier upset Ali with a unanimous decision win. In Roufus’ mind, Woodley will play the part of Frazier.
