Former UFC welterweight Tyron Woodley sent a message to YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, telling him to “come and get this smoke for real.” Woodley has been vocal about his desire to fight Paul, who is coming off of a knockout win over Woodley’s teammate Ben Askren in his third professional boxing match. Though Paul is a YouTuber by trade, he has really turned into a draw in the world of boxing and there are a number of MMA fighters and boxers who want to fight him, Woodley included.
Tyron Woodley removed from UFC rankings

Tyron Woodley was removed from the UFC rankings, likely signaling the end of his time in the promotion. Just recently, the UFC removed Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem from the rankings, and shortly after it was confirmed they were released from the promotion. The same could be happening here to Woodley as he is not available on the fan rankings, or listed on the UFC roster on their website.

Tyron Woodley is looking to box Jake Paul. On Saturday night, Paul scored a first-round TKO over Ben Askren in just his third professional boxing match. It was a hyped-up fight but after the win, many wondered who would be next for Paul. Several MMA fighters have called him out and one of them is Tyron Woodley who makes it clear he wants the fight, as he was in Askren’s corner on Saturday.

UFC welterweight Tyron Woodley exchanged words with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and his team moments before the Ben Askren fight. Woodley was in the corner of Ben Askren, his longtime friend, and training partner before Paul fought him in Atlanta on Saturday night. Of course, the fight did not last very long as Paul managed to land a clean right hand that dropped Askren in the first round, leading to the ref stopping the fight. It was another easy win for Paul and now there are a number of fighters who are trying to step into the boxing ring with him his next time out, including Woodley himself. There have been several suggestions that “The Chosen One” could fight Paul next, especially if the UFC fully releases him from his contract as is expected.

The UFC rankings have changed following UFC 260, with Francis Ngannou entering the top-five P4P rankings and Tyron Woodley dropping down. Ngannou brutally finished Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 260 with punches in the second round to capture the UFC heavyweight title. Following the win, Ngannou jumped eight spots in the promotion’s pound-for-pound rankings. He’s all the way up at No. 5 in the world now after the victory, with Miocic slipping four spots in the rankings down to No. 7 overall. With Miocic moving down, both UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski and UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya moved up one spot each. Despite Jan Blachowicz beating Adesanya at UFC 259, he is ranked four spots lower at No. 8.

UFC welterweight contender Vicente Luque issued a statement following his submission win over Tyron Woodley in the co-main event of UFC 260. Luque took on Woodley in one of the biggest fights of his career to date, and he passed the test with flying colors when he submitted the former UFC welterweight champion with a D’arce choke in the first round. It was a wild fight for as long as it lasted, as both men blasted each other with big shots and rocked each other, but eventually, Luque proved that he is the superior mixed martial artist at this point of their careers with the submission win.

It was a wild fight for as long as it lasted, with Woodley landing a big punch early on that rocked Luque, only to see the Brazilian come back and hurt Woodley on the feet before taking him to the ground and finishing him by submission. It’s the kind of marquee win that Luque needs in order to fight the upper echelon of the UFC welterweight division as he continues to march towards the title. UFC president Dana White hinted that former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley should retire following his fourth straight loss. Woodley was submitted by Vicente Luque in the co-main event of UFC 260, but it was a fun fight for as long as it lasted and won each man $50,000 each for “Fight of the Night.” After losing three straight fights to Kamaru Usman, Gilbert Burns, and Colby Covington, Woodley came into this fight with Luque with a huge chip on his shoulder, and it showed. As soon as the opening bell rang, Woodley immediately ran across the Octagon and tried to get physical with Luque. He even rocked the Brazilian, but he left himself exposed to counters and Luque was able to hurt him with strikes before getting him to the mat and tapping him.

Woodley and Covington were once training partners, but the men turned into bitter rivals over the last few years. Woodley is looking to snap a three-fight losing skid when he meets Luque next Saturday night in the co-main event of UFC 260. The 38-year-old St. Louis native is the No. 7 ranked welterweight in the UFC, but with three straight losses to Colby Covington, Gilbert Burns, and Kamaru Usman, the former champion is being used as a gatekeeper to the top-10 now. The UFC is giving Luque the chance to go in there and take on a former champion and see what he’s made of, and the oddsmakers like his chances. Luque is currently a -275 betting favorite, while the former champion Woodley is a +200 underdog at the moment.
