In addition to being one of the world’s top fighters, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is also a fantastic analyst.

Speaking on The Hollywood Beatdown on TMZ earlier this week, the welterweight champ donned his analyst’s hat an made a prediction for the UFC 229 main event, which will pit UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov against former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor.

While Woodley believes Khabib Nurmagomedov is likely to win this encounter, he’s hoping he’s wrong, as he believes he could be McGregor’s next opponent if the Irishman wins at UFC 229.

“I’ll be there [at UFC 229]. I’ll be working the [Fox Sports] desk,” Tyron Woodley said (transcript via MMA Fighting). “I would think that if Khabib’s really about that action, he’s going to do what he says and it’s going to be really tough for Conor to have any lead in that arm to throw that knockout punch in the fourth or fifth round, so I would say Khabib [wins]. But just for selfish purposes, if Conor wins, then the only fight that makes sense is for him to fight me. Try to get a third belt.”

“From my analyst hat, my mind says Khabib, but my bank account and my legacy says Conor. I would take that fight in a heartbeat,” Woodley added.

If Tyron Woodley is matched up with Conor McGregor in the future, he does not anticipate a particularly difficult night of work.

“Conor thought he wanted smoke and then he realized he really didn’t,” Tyron Woodley said. “I would smash him. He’s too little. He’s got one punch. What fighter have I ever fought that’s been able to beat me with one tool?”

What do you think of Tyron Woodley’s prediction for the UFC 229 main event? Do you think we’ll see him fight Conor McGregor in the future?
