Tyron Woodley will accept UFC 230 fight with Colby Covington if he’s cleared by doctors

Ever since UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley defended his title with a second-round submission Darren Till on September 8, former interim champion Colby Covington has been calling him out for a title fight at UFC 230 on November 3.

Apparently, Tyron Woodley is happy to accept Colby Covington’s challenge, so long as doctors give him the all-clear first.

“I’ve got an MRI on my thumb and I’m sending it for a second opinion,” the champ Tyron Woodley said on MMAjunkie Radio. “If I’m good, then I have no issue with fighting in November. The more I fight, the better rhythm I get in the swing of things. Obviously, I just fought, so I’m still in phenomenal shape. I’ve been eating pancakes, shrimp fried rice, brownies – taking a week and eating some bullcrap.

“… It all depends on how severe my thumb injury is. I dislocated it in the first round punching him in the back of the head. I thought it was just jammed.”

If Tyron Woodley does end up fighting Colby Covington at UFC 230, he doesn’t seem to be anticipating a particularly difficult night of work.

“The only thing he does better than me is dress horribly and wear terrible hats,” Tyron Woodley said of Colby Covington. “Outside of that, that’s it. That’s his only advantage – and having extremely corny trash talk.”

While Colby Covington will probably be happy to hear that Woodley is willing to fight at UFC 230, he recently divulged that he doesn’t think the UFC will give Woodley the opportunity to headline such a huge card. Because they “hate him.”

“That’s fake news about his hand being hurt,” Covington said on a recent episode of BJPENN.COM Radio. “We all know that. ‘Cause right after the fight, he was saying, ‘Hey, I’m ready to fight in November. I’ll fight Colby at [UFC 230].’ He was saying he was ready to go, but I think it’s more that the UFC, they don’t want to give him that spot. They don’t want to reward him that main event, ’cause they hate him”

Do you think we’ll see Tyron Woodley and Colby Covington fight at UFC 230 this November?
