In less than two weeks’ time, in the co-main event of UFC 205, Tyron Woodley will defend his UFC welterweight title against streaking karate expert Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. Given the starkly differing styles possessed by the two men, and the fight-altering power they share, this is a difficult fight to predict. No matter the end result, however, this welterweight title fight marks a massive moment in the history of the UFC welterweight division.

In advance of this compelling championship showdown, the folks over at MMAFighting.com have constructed an awesome video retracing the road that led us to it. This video recounts the careers of both Woodley and Thompson, from their respective UFC debuts, to the momentary stumbles they both experienced as they made their rises, to the wins that established them as champion and number-one-contender.

UFC welterweight champion

UFC 205, will will go down on November 12, and mark the UFC’s long awaited debut in New York City, New York, boasts far more than this incredible welterweight title fight.

The card’s main event will see featherweight champion and top MMA draw Conor McGregor challenge Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title. If he’s successful in this attempt, he’ll become the first fighter in UFC history to hold two belts in two divisions simultaneously.

The card will also feature a third title fight, as dominant strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk looks to make the fourth successful defense of her title against fellow undefeated polish fighter Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Elsewhere on the six-fight main card, we’ll see Chris Weidman duke it out with Yoel Romero, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone scrap with Kelvin Gastelum, and Miesha Tate battle Raquel Pennington.

The undercard, finally, will feature a featherweight showdown between Frankie Edgar and Jeremy Stephens, a lightweight bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Michael Johnson, and a middleweight scrap between Rashad Evans and Tim Kennedy.
