VIDEO | Tyron Woodley fulfills an amazing promise to his mother

It’s Christmas Eve, and UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is definitely in a giving mood.

This afternoon, the champ shared an awesome video to his official Instagram account, announcing that he’s made good on a promise he made to his mother when he was 10 years old. As a 10-year-old, the champ explains, he promised his mother that he’d become a professional athlete and that he’d buy her house. 25 years later, he’s now made good on this promise. See the champ’s video above.

“Told my mom at 10 years old I would buy her a house,” Woodley said in the caption for his post. “This is my most memorable Christmas.”

Tyron Woodley last fought in July, when he scored a dominant decision win over dangerous Brazilian jiu-jitsu player Demian Maia. This win was preceded by two fights with Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson – a decision win and a draw – and a crushing first-round knockout of Robbie Lawler, which earned him the UFC welterweight strap.

At present it’s not known who Woodley will fight next, though outspoken trash talker Colby Covington and surging former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos seem to be the frontrunners for the next welterweight title shot. Whatever the case, Woodley will first need to recover from a recent surgery.

Who do you want to see the welterweight champ Tyron Woodley fight next? What do you think of the incredible promise he made to his mother?
