Russell Ess - November 15, 2016
UFC 205 was a massive event held at New York’s historic Madison Square Garden over the weekend and UFC President Dana White claims that UFC 205 broke every UFC record. “Sitting here tonight we broke every record in UFC history tonight,” White said to the media at the post-fight presser. “Every record. The only one I’m waiting on now is the FOX number, how did FOX Sports 1 do. It would be really, really weird and make no sense if we didn’t break that one too.”
UFC 205 Reebok Athlete Outfitting Pay: The Champs Lead the Way, Three Fighters Receive $2,500
Tom Taylor - November 14, 2016
The hugely hyped UFC 205 has now come and gone. Unsurprisingly, the stacked event was a massive financial success. As UFC President Dana White pointed out, it broke company records in the areas of live gate and pay-per-view sales. As it turns out, it was also a big night for the UFC’s athlete outfitting deal with Reebok. Under the Reebok outfitting deal, fighters are paid based on the number of fights they’ve had in the UFC, and in Zuffa-era Strikeforce and WEC. The more fights they’ve had under these banners, the more they’re paid to wear their Reebok gear. Champions, meanwhile, receive $40,000, the maximum amount possible under the Reebok deal, while title challengers receive $30,000 to rock Reebok in the cage.
Dana White on UFC 205: We Broke Every Record in UFC History Tonight
Tom Taylor - November 13, 2016
UFC 205 was absolutely stacked. Though it was hurt by the last minute losses of a Donald Cerrone vs. Kelvin Gastelum welterweight bout and a Tim Kennedy vs. Rashad Evans middleweight bout, it still stood out as the most talent-rich card in UFC history. The lineup was topped by a lightweight title fight between divisional champ Eddie Alvarez and featherweight king Conor McGregor. Below this title fight were two others: a welterweight title fight between Tyron Woodley and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, and a strawweight title fight between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Karolina Kowalkiewicz. The rest of the card, finally, was packed with big names like Yoel Romero, Chris Weidman, Miesha Tate, Raquel Pennington, Frankie Edgar, Jeremy Stephens, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Michael Johnson.

UFC 205 goes down next Saturday November 12 live from New York City’s historic Madison Square Garden arena. The blockbuster event is arguably the most highly anticipated fight card in the promotions history. The biggest fight on the card, unsurprisingly, is its main event super-fight, which will see Eddie Alvarez defend his UFC lightweight title against reigning UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor. Alvarez won the title in July by smashing the streaking Rafael Dos Anjos to a first-round TKO win. McGregor, meanwhile, won featherweight gold with a 13-second KO of Jose Aldo last December. The brash Irish superstar has spent his last two fights battling Nate Diaz at welterweight. If the Irishman is successful against Alvarez, he will become the first fighter ever to hold two UFC titles simultaneously.
EXCLUSIVE | Tyron Woodley's bold prediction for Stephen Thompson fight
bjpenndotcom - November 3, 2016
In just under two weeks, on November 12th, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will be stepping into the Octagon to fight Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson in the co-main event of UFC 205. The fight will serve as Woodley’s first title defense after he claimed the belt by knocking out Robbie Lawler in the main event of UFC 201, delivering a ‘knockout of the year’ candidate as he slumped Lawler with an overhand right to claim the welterweight championship. While his first title defense is against a very game Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, who possesses arguably some of the best striking skills in the UFC, Woodley has been preparing for ‘Wonderboy’ by bringing in welterweight prospect Sage Northcutt, who also comes from a Karate background much like Thompson. Leading up to the fight, Woodley has explained that he believes Northcutt’s explosiveness, as well as his strength actually make him a better version of Stephen Thompson.

UFC 205, which will mark the UFC’s long-awaited debut in New York City, was always supposed to be a stacked card. Yet just a few weeks ago, the November 12 event was almost entirely devoid of high-profile fights, which led to a widespread worry that it would not deliver as the card we were hoping for. Luckily, the UFC has come through, stacking the card with a whopping three title fights, and a long list of relevant bouts featuring prospects, veterans and former champions alike.
