November’s UFC 205 fight card in New York is finally beginning to take shape. The promotion announced five bouts as being official for the event on this evening’s edition of UFC Tonight.

Another New Yorker has been pulled from the UFC’s first foray to the Empire State. Long Islander Gian Villante, who trains out of Serra-Longo’s Acadamy with former middleweight champion Chris Weidman, will no longer be facing Marcos Rogerio de Lima at UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden this November. Villante, 31, joins Al Iaquinta and other New York natives who will not be competing on the historic card for one reason or another. Iaquinta was originally linked to a lightweight bout with Thiago Alves for UFC 205, but revealed on Monday that he never signed the fight agreement due to contract and bonus-related issues with the promotion.

UFC 205, which is scheduled for November 12 in New York City, is still without an official main event. The impression, however, has long been that the the card’s main event spot would be filled by a lightweight title fight between Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor.

While UFC 205 is still quite a ways away, the event has already experienced two fallouts in regards to scheduled matchups. The first was Robbie Lawler vs. Donald Cerrone, which was the first fight announced for the event. Almost immediately after the bout was announced, former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler pulled out of the fight, explaining that he didn’t want to rush into another fight too quickly after being knocked out by Tyron Woodley in the main event of UFC 201.

While UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley may have been quick to shut down Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson on the Fox Sports 1 post-fight show after winning the welterweight championship, the pair are now slated to fight at UFC 205 in New York. Following several reports that former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman, and top ranked middleweight Yoel Romero would fight on the card, MMAJunkie has confirmed that the fight has been finalized. Rumor | Conor McGregor will return in November to headline UFC 205 in New York

According to sources close to the UFC, the promotion is targeting featherweight champion Conor McGregor to headline November’s highly anticipated UFC 205 event in New York in a lightweight showdown against current champion Eddie Alvarez for the UFC’s 155-pound title. “Mystic Mac” is coming off a majority decision victory over Nate Diaz, which he scored in the headlining bout of UFC 202 in Las Vegas.
