Athlete Outfitting Pay for UFC 208: Holm and De Randamie pocket $30K

By Tom Taylor - February 12, 2017

Last night, the UFC touched down in Brooklyn, New York for the first time ever. It did so with UFC 208, a card that was headlined by the first women’s featherweight title fight in UFC history.

Holly Holm at UFC 208

This title fight pitted former bantamweight champion Holly Holm against kickboxing specialist Germaine De Randamie. De Randamie would win this fight with a controversial decision.

The co-main event, meanwhile, pitted former middleweight king and veritable MMA legend Anderson Silva against rising middleweight contender Derek Brunson. Much like the main event, this fight ended with a controversial decision, as Silva was awarded the win, but many pundits believed Brunson should have gotten he nod.

The rest of the card, finally, saw Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza tap Tim Boetsch at middleweight, Glover Teixeira decision Jared Cannonier at light heavyweight, and Dustin Poirier outwork Jim Miller at lightweight.

At the moment, fighter purses for UFC 208 have not been disclosed. We do, however, now how much the card’s 20 fighters took home through the UFC’s oft-criticized outfitting deal with Reebok.

Under the UFC’s deal with Reebok, fighters are paid based on the amount of fights they’ve had in the UFC’s Octagon, and in the Zuffa-owned eras of Strikeforce (April 2011 and after) and WEC (January 2007 and after). Champions and title challengers, however, are paid $40,000 and $30,000 respectively, regardless of their experience in the aforementioned promotions. These are the two highest payouts possible under this UFC-Reebok partnership.

As title challengers, Holm and De Randamie topped the Reebok payroll, pocketing $30,000 each. The next biggest winners, meanwhile, were veterans Anderson Silva, Tim Boetsch and Jim Miller, all of whom took home $20,000.
