Alexander Gustafsson gives prediction for Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson 2
UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is currently is currently gearing up for his UFC 210 light heavyweight title defense against Anthony Johnson, where he will look to once again defeat the knockout artist for the light heavyweight title.
Ahead of the fight, the MMA community is torn on their predictions for the fight, with many thinking that Cormier’s wrestling may once again prove to be the difference maker as he defends his title once again. On the flip side, many believe Anthony Johnson’s power will be too much for DC, and he will be stopped via strikes.
With just days to go until the event, top ranked light heavyweight Alexander Gustafsson, who has fought both men, gave his prediction for the scrap to media members in Sweden.
MMAJunkie has the transcript:
“If one of those hands lands on ‘DC,’ it’s going to be a tough night,” Gustafsson told reporters in Sweden at a recent media day (h/t Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie). “But at the same time, with Anthony, you’ve seen him dominate and you’ve seen him lose and get finished. What I know with ‘DC’ is he’s a tough guy. It doesn’t matter what you throw at him, what you give him in the fight, he just keeps coming forward. ‘DC’ will keep his belt that night, but it’s a hard fight to predict.”
Gustafsson fought Anthony Johnson in the main event of ‘UFC Fight Night: Sweden’ in early 2015, where he suffered a first round knockout following an accidental headbutt. In his next fight, Gustafsson fought Cormier for the light heavyweight title, where he and ‘DC’ put on one of the best title fights in light heavyweight history. When the judges scorecards were read, Cormier was awarded the win via split decision, with many thinking the fight should have been scored for Gustafsson.
